Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Golf Gadget Pro (“the app”), a golf tracking, rangefinder, AR green reading and digital scorecard app, handles information when you use it. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Summary
- No account needed: you do not need to create a traditional account, and we do not collect your email address, phone number or contacts.
- Stays on your device: GPS route tracking and distance calculations, the camera feed for AR green reading, solo scorecards, map pins, saved round telemetry, shareable story graphics and offline map tiles.
- Optional cloud data: taking part in the Tournament Lobby is optional. Your alias, handicap, round scores and chat messages in a tournament are the only data that leaves your device to our own Firebase project.
- Sent to third parties: your coordinates to Open-Meteo for “AI Caddie” weather, your IP address to map tile providers, and device and advertising identifiers to Google AdMob and RevenueCat. Some ads are delivered by Meta Audience Network through AdMob mediation.
- Never collected: camera images or video, background location, and your payment details.
- Ads and purchases: yes. The app shows ads through Google AdMob and offers an optional “PRO” upgrade through Google Play Billing.
2. Information the App Uses
The app requests specific device permissions to provide its core features.
- Precise location (GPS): used for real-time golf route tracking and distance calculations, only while the app is actively running in the foreground. A persistent system notification is visible whenever location is being processed. The app does not access or collect location in the background when it is closed. Location is processed on your device to generate your route trail and calculate distances.
- Camera (AR green reading): used only to power the AR Topography and Green Reading feature. The camera feed is processed entirely on your device in real time. We do not record, capture, store or transmit video or images to our servers or to any third party.
- Tournament data (optional): if you choose to take part in the Tournament Lobby, your chosen alias, handicap, round scores and chat messages are sent to our Firebase (Firestore) project to keep the leaderboard and chat in sync with other players in your lobby. This is the only data that leaves your device to the developer’s Firebase project.
- Anonymous guest sign-in: tournament players are signed in as guests using anonymous Firebase Authentication, which creates a random identifier. No email address or other account details are required.
- Local storage: solo digital scorecards, map pins, saved round telemetry, generated shareable story graphics and offline map tile caches are stored in the app’s private storage on your device.
- Device identifiers: third-party services used by the app collect device IDs and advertising identifiers to deliver ads and manage the PRO upgrade (see section 3).
3. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following providers for multiplayer, weather, mapping, advertising and purchases. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
- Google Firebase and Firestore: receives your tournament alias, handicap, round scores and chat messages, and provides anonymous guest sign-in, to run live tournament leaderboards and chat. Firebase privacy
- Open-Meteo (weather): when you use the “AI Caddie” feature, your device’s current coordinates are sent ephemerally to Open-Meteo to return live weather data (temperature, wind and pressure). No personal identifiers are attached to these requests. Open-Meteo terms and privacy
- Google AdMob: shows banner, interstitial and app-open ads so the base app can stay free. AdMob may collect and use data such as your device’s advertising ID and network information to show relevant ads. Google Privacy Policy · How Google uses ad data
- Meta Audience Network (through AdMob mediation): some ads are delivered by Meta Platforms' Audience Network, which Google AdMob can select through mediation. When it delivers an ad, Meta may receive your device's advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interaction data to show, measure and protect ads. See the Meta Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing and RevenueCat: the optional “PRO” upgrade is paid through Google Play Billing, which handles all payment processing, and your upgrade status is verified through RevenueCat. We do not process or store your payment details. RevenueCat privacy
- Map providers: when the app displays maps, it connects to tile providers such as ESRI, OpenStreetMap, Carto and USGS. These services receive your IP address so they can deliver map tiles to your screen. Esri privacy · OpenStreetMap privacy
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- Local data: solo scorecards, map pins, route histories and other data you create are stored only on your device. You can delete all of it at any time through Android Settings > Apps > Golf Gadget Pro > Storage > Clear storage, or by uninstalling the app.
- Tournament data (cloud): data from multiplayer tournaments is stored in Firebase. When a host ends a tournament, or a lobby is abandoned, the session data is archived or deleted by the app’s automated database lifecycle.
- Deletion on request: you can ask us to delete your tournament alias, scores and messages at any time by contacting us (see Contact). Please include your alias and the lobby or tournament name so we can find your data.
- Advertising data: data collected by Google AdMob is retained by Google under Google’s own policies. Data received by Meta through mediation is kept by Meta under its own policies.
5. Analytics and Tracking
The app does not use general behavioural monitoring or external analytics tools such as Google Analytics. Our third-party partners, RevenueCat and Google AdMob, collect only the minimum data needed to verify your upgrade status and serve ads.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Permissions: you can allow or revoke location and camera access at any time in Android Settings > Apps > Golf Gadget Pro > Permissions. Features that depend on a permission will not work without it.
- Tournament participation: the Tournament Lobby is optional. If you do not join, no data is sent to our Firebase project.
- Ad consent: where required in your region, a Consent Management Platform (CMP) dialog is shown when you launch the app, letting you grant or deny permission for personalised ads.
- Opt out of personalised ads: you can opt out at any time in your device’s system settings (for example, Google Settings > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalisation).
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA/UK), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to processing. Because the app keeps most of your data on your device, you can exercise most of these directly on the device. For your tournament data held in Firebase, or anything else, contact us.
7. Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed at anyone under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it from our cloud services.
8. Security
Solo play data is protected by your device’s sandboxed app storage. Tournament data is protected by Firebase encryption. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
9. International Processing
The third-party services named above, including Firebase, may process data on servers outside your country, under their own safeguards. This includes Meta Platforms, which delivers some ads through AdMob mediation.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal requirements or new app features. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also note it in the app’s store listing or release notes.
11. Contact
If you have any questions, concerns or requests about this Privacy Policy, including deletion requests, please email ZyeemZia™ at [email protected]. You can also use the Direct Transmission Hub at the bottom of this page.
